The Ephemeral Garden

Support for Each Season of Life

Nature and the changing of seasons have always inspired me and have been my teacher. Each season brings its own challenges as well as unique beauty and joy. The goal of The Ephemeral Garden is to help my community navigate the complexity of death and dying as the final season of life, while celebrating seasons past.

A Death Doula is someone who offers non-medical support. That support can take many shapes and be customized based on individual and family needs.

Enduring Legacy Work

The goal of legacy work is preserving memories, family recipes, stories, and audio recordings so they won’t be lost to time. I will work with you and your loved ones to identify what matters most to the legacy one wants to leave behind.

Sitting Vigil

I will be a comforting presence to those who are on their deathbeds and curate a peaceful atmosphere. This gives regular caregivers much needed breaks for other demands on their time and attention.

Memorial Art

I can guide you in creating grief art. This usually looks like pressing funeral flowers into keepsake art for you to cherish for years to come. Or, if you prefer, creating mosaic garden stones or holiday ornaments.

Our pets are a part of our families too and learning to live without their constant companionship is also a heavy, emotional time. I am experienced in processing this grief through ceremony and art.

Pre-Planning

The best gift that we can give to ourselves and our loved ones is to have a plan that is communicated and set in writing. If we put off making choices, sometimes an emergency can force us to make hasty decisions with less foresight.

If you feel overwhelmed by options, or you aren’t sure where to start, I am happy to provide resources and facilitate conversations that center the wishes of the dying or pre-planning person.
